To work in confined spaces you will need the appropriate qualifications.

Here at Civil Skills Plus we can offer City and Guilds Confined Space courses, whether you’re looking for a Low Risk – Shallow Entry, Medium risk – Vertical Entry or High risk – Complex Entry course, we can cater to your needs.

Our specialist training site boasts a custom built underground concrete tunnel system, inclusive of manholes to provide a realistic training experience.

What level of Confined Space training suits you?

Low Risk – Shallow Entry

Spaces with adequate natural or mechanical ventilation, where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding. e.g. meter pits, valve chambers, booster-pumping stations, PRV chambers

Suitability: For persons undertaking excavation works.

Medium Risk – Vertical Entry

Spaces with vertical, direct and unobstructed access, with continuous attachment to a man-riding hoist or similar mechanical rescue device.

Suitability: For persons requiring the use of escape set breathing apparatus.

High Risk – Complex Entry

Spaces in which it is not possible to have persons permanently attached to a safety line. Usually a team entry that moves away from the entry point e.g. Man entry sewers, utility service subway tunnels, aqueducts and complex wet wells.  Working without an attached rescue line and includes working away from the point of entry.

Suitability: For persons working without safety line and away from entry point.
